Don’t miss out on our latest newsletter!

Members, if you've misplaced your printed copy of our Pen & Palette newsletter or for some reason never received it in the mail, don't worry. You can download a copy in PDF by clicking right here! (If this is new to you, see the instructions below.)

And visitors? Feel free to download a copy as well. You'll learn a lot about what the Boca Raton Branch is all about by keeping up with our newsletters. Enjoy!

  February 2012
Pen & Palette Highlights:

  • Did you know that the current board's term will end May of this year? Nominees for any of the Branch's offices will be presented at the February meeting and elections will take place in March. Read the "President's Message" in the newsletter to learn more. Questions? Get in touch with Carol White.

  • VivianCorllMary Twitter profiles writer Vivian Corll in this month's newsletter. Vivian, who taught English for 45 years in the Broward County School System, holds a doctorate in education and despite retiring twice, she's now "unretired" again to teach at the American Literature at Broward College.

She's also the author not only of the young American adult novel Himmarshee, but of a screenplay called The Senior Class. The screenplay, reviewed by Mary Twitty in the newsletter, involves a dozen senior citizens who become enrolled as day students in the local high school. Need a laugh? This will do it.
  • A reminder for writers: You're getting closer to the deadline for the Essay Contest. Your entries must be submitted by March 31. There will be a first prize for $75, a second prize for $50, and a third prize for $25. Not too shabby! There will also be three honorable mentions and five certificates of merit awards. Pen your best stuff, Pen Women!

  • The newsletter needs book reviewers and profile writers. Please consider pitching in. For more information, please contact Pat Wilson.

Instructions for downloading our PDF newsletter:

When you click on a PDF link, your web browser — probably Internet Explorer — will open the newsletter for you right on your screen, or else it will automatically download a copy to your desktop. (What happens depends on your browser’s settings.) PDF files tend to be big. If you are on a dial-up connection, retrieving the file may take a while.

If you don’t want the PDF file to automatically open on your screen and prefer to download it to your desktop, simply right-click with your mouse and select the appropriate option. That’s all there is to it!

NOTE: PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is pre-installed on nearly every computer, no matter what operating system you use. But if, by chance, you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader already installed, you can get it by clicking on the icon below.
