The Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale Branches of the National League of American Pen Women joined together for a full-day celebration of the arts on Saturday, March 30th at the Center for Spiritual Living in Boca Raton, Florida.
Music, art and creative writing were on display in many unique activities that the public, along with Pen women, enjoyed. Music composer Sheila Firestone treated the audience to her original piano composition, A Walk With Joe, at the opening event.
A judged art show of work by Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale artists was on exhibit in the Center’s gallery.
Everyone in attendance was welcome to join a ceramic workshop led by award-winning artist Anabel Rub Peicher. Participants enjoyed creating objects expressing the universal theme of love.
Artist Mary Belle Cordell led an art demonstration of porcelain painting and reverse glass painting, inspiring the audience with her outstanding creations.
Attendees gathered for the concluding event of the day – an authors’ open mic led by novelist and playwright Carol White. Pen women authors shared their poetry, stories, essays and a bit of themselves through their writing.
Raffle numbers were called throughout the day, with many wonderful prizes for the lucky winners, including tickets for Sheila Firestone’s new musical production, Miriam and the Women of the Desert. Proceeds from the raffle sales will benefit the Boca Raton Pen Women Scholarship Fund.
Pen women from the Boca Raton Branch and the Ft. Lauderdale Branch were delighted to share their art, music and creative writing with each other and the public.
