Boca Raton Pen Women Share Art and Friendship With the Local Community

By | March 23, 2017

The Boca Raton Branch National League of American Pen Women hosted a booth at the All People’s Day Diversity Festival on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Pompey Park in Delray Beach, Florida. This once-a-year festival brings together the many diverse cultural groups in our community to promote appreciation of different customs and to share music, food, art, and educational activities.

For the past three years, the Diversity Festival has been a favorite outreach program for the Boca Raton Pen Women, bringing the arts to the local community.

Sheila Firestone, Marlene Klotz and Etta Schaeffer hosted a Pen Women booth titled, Become a Flower in the Garden of Friendship. Visitors who stopped at the booth received blank greeting cards to draw flowers representing themselves and write phrases of friendship. The resulting cards created a kaleidoscope of creative flowers with thoughtful messages.

This lively festival featured twenty Diversity entertainers, fifty issue-based and interactive cultural booths, health fair booths, and arts activities and workshops. It was an entertaining and educational day for children and adults.
